πŸŽ„ Heart of Christmas - Week 8

Welcome to Week 8 of our Annual Heart of Christmas Blog Hop! A group of creative friends from the Art With Heart team are back sharing Christmas inspiration every Monday night through until the end of November. We hope you enjoy following along and finding plenty of festive inspiration for your Christmas crafting.

For this week's project, I've created a fun Christmas card featuring a pop-out element at the bottom of the design. I couldn't resist using the adorable A Little Christmas Suite Collection, and I decided to step away from traditional Christmas colours by combining Barely Blush, Misty Moonlight, and Cherry Cobbler for a softer festive palette.

The card is slightly larger than our standard card size, so it will require a 160mm x 160mm square envelope. I always keep envelopes from cards I've received and love finding ways to upcycle them. If my name is already on the envelope, I'll simply decorate over it and give it a new life!

The card base is Barely Blush, layered with one of the beautiful scenic images from the A Little Christmas Designer Series Paper. This cosy fireplace scene immediately caught my eye and became the focal point for the entire design.

To create the interactive feature, I constructed a cylinder-style pop-out box along the bottom of the card and covered it with coordinating DSP. This allowed me to attach the festive mice and bubbles, creating a playful dimensional scene. The best part is that the card folds completely flat for posting, although I must admit I'm very tempted to keep it as a Christmas decoration!

The mice were coloured with Stampin' Blends 400, 500 and 600, with Barely Blush added to their ears, feet and tails. I also added a touch of Gold Foil for the star, along with the Multicolor Christmas Baker's Twine and Christmas Epoxy Shapes from the suite.

Several elements were fussy cut directly from the Designer Series Paper, including the mouse carrying the Christmas lights, the bubbles and the little bubble box. One of my favourite features of the coordinating dies is how they cut around the mice's paws, making it easy to tuck images behind them so they appear to be carrying them. It's such a clever detail!

The Christmas tree was die cut from Two-Tone Garden Green Cardstock. I used the lighter side to help it stand out against the darker background scene. The present, bubbles that the mice are holding and Santa hat were coloured with Misty Moonlight, Cherry Cobbler and Barely Blush Stampin' Blends.

To finish the card, I added some festive sparkle with Golden Glow Shimmer Mist and Wink of Stella on the bubbles, Santa hat and presents. Unfortunately, the shimmer is difficult to capture in photographs, but it adds a beautiful touch in real life.

I hope this project inspires you to step outside traditional Christmas colours and try something a little different. Interactive cards are always fun to create and even more fun to receive!

πŸŽ„ Heart of Christmas — Week 7

Heart of Christmas Blog Hop | Shallow Box Card πŸŽ„

A group of creative friends from the Art With Heart team are back with our annual Heart of Christmas Blog Hop. Follow along each Monday night until the end of November for plenty of Christmas card inspiration.

This week I'm sharing another Shallow Box Card, created using the Joyful Friends stamp set. I stamped and fussy cut all the images before combining them with products from a couple of other bundles. The Christmas tree and star are from Holly Jolly Branches, while the oval die, pine foliage on the middle layer and sentiment banner are all from Noel Tidings.

The Designer Series Paper is from A Little Christmas. I absolutely love the designs in this pack and knew they would work beautifully with this card design.

I've become quite obsessed with making Shallow Box Cards. I love the wonderful depth they create while still folding flat for posting. This week alone I've made three, with another thirteen still to go! 😊

For this batch, I created cards in Mossy Meadow, Real Red and Golden Glow. Which colour is your favourite?

The oval opening on the front panel was cut using the oval die from the Noel Tidings bundle. I cut the middle panel at the same time so that both openings lined up perfectly when assembled. The side panels are scored and folded into an accordion shape, creating the depth and dimension of the box card.

I couldn't stop at just one colour! Here are the Mossy Meadow and Real Red versions of the same Shallow Box Card design.

✨ Finishing Touches

I added a little sparkle with Wink of Stella to several elements throughout the cards, including the reindeer's antlers, the plate, the kangaroo's pouch, the Christmas lights (where I didn't use the Shimmer Brushes), and the wombat's Santa hat and candy cane. These small touches catch the light beautifully and add a little Christmas magic to each card.

I hope this Shallow Box Card inspires you to give this fun fold a try. It's a wonderful way to add dimension and interest to your Christmas cards while still keeping them practical for posting.

Happy stamping,

Hx 🧑

πŸŽ„ Heart of Christmas — Week 6

A group of creative friends from the Art with Heart team are back with our Annual Heart of Christmas blog hop. Follow through the blogs each Monday night until the end of November for Christmas card inspiration.

For this week’s Christmas card, I’ve created a slider card — such a fun interactive design for the festive season. The adorable Wombat from Joyful Friends pops out of a Santa hat as you pull the SDSP on the right‑hand side. Both images are fussy‑cut, and the Santa hat comes from the Santa’s Hat stamp set. It’s honestly so cute when the Wombat peeks out.

The Christmas tree is from one of my favourite bundles, Welcome Noel. I stamped it on Peaceful Pine cardstock using the same ink colour for that tone‑on‑tone look I love. I added Christmas Epoxy Shapes to decorate the tree and tucked a few sweet little presents underneath.

The SDSP is from Neutral Noel, and the greeting is stamped on Basic White in Real Red ink. The banner is cut using the Holly Jolly Branches dies. I finished the slider card with a bow in Mossy Meadow from the Neutral Jute Combo Pack — it just felt like it needed that little something when you pull the SDSP so the Wombat pops out.

The Santa hat is stamped in Real Red, and I added Wink of Stella for sparkle.

For the Wombat, I used a mix of blends: Pecan Pie, Crumb Cake, 500, 600, and Real Red for the candy cane and hat. I added Wink of Stella on the white parts for extra shimmer.

✂️ Measurements

  • Basic White Thick: 210mm x 148mm, scored at 105mm

  • Neutral Noel SDSP (top): 132mm x 55mm

  • Neutral Noel SDSP (bottom): 132mm x 65mm

  • Real Red layer: 142mm x 99mm

  • Scraps: Basic White for Santa hat, Wombat, and sentiment; Peaceful Pine for the tree

  • Neutral Jute: 250mm

  • Slider mechanism: 10mm x 85mm (I cut 2 of these, one is at the top of the SDSP to give it some strength, I didn't need to do the V for the top one as nothing is popping out)

    • Score at: 25mm, 37.5mm, 62.5mm, 75mm

    • On the top left side, create a V

    • On the 25mm mark, measure 12.5mm

    • On the score line, mark 12.5mm from each point

    • Score from each 12.5mm mark to the side measurement

    • Add clear acetate to hold the Wombat — this is glued onto the V‑shape on the left side

I’ll post a diagram of this mechanism tomorrow to make it easier to visualise.

I hope this Slider Card inspires you.

Happy stamping, Hx 🧑

❤️ Heart of Christmas — Week 5

❤️ A group of creative friends from the Art with Heart team are back with our Annual Heart of Christmas blog hop. Follow through the blogs each Monday night until the end of November for Christmas card inspiration.

This week I’m sharing my Shallowed Box card, created using the Neutral Noel Suite which includes Noel Tidings Bundle and Welcome Noel Bundle.

The neutral tones in the Neutral Neol SDSP worked perfectly as a backdrop for the two bubdles and colours, Real Red, Peaceful Pine, Golden Glow, Pecan Pie and Very Vanilla. The card design is a Shallow Box Card, I am making a few cards using this design and different dies and stamps. I love the depth it creates, yet it still folds flat.

The oval on the front is cut using the oval Die from the Noel Tidings and I cut the middle card at the same time.

❤️ Heart of Christmas — Week 4

πŸŽ„ A group of creative friends fr 1om the Art With Heart team are back with our Annual Heart of Christmas blog hop. Follow through the blogs each Monday night until the end of November for Christmas card inspiration.

This week I was inspired by Sharon Davern’s Christmas card, created using the Paper Pumpkin kit. When I first received the kit, I felt the colours weren’t quite me and thought I might struggle to use it. But once I paired it with Joyful Friends and Holly Joy Branches, everything came together beautifully.

I fussy‑cut the Joyful Friends characters (there are no dies for this set) and used Holly Joy Branches for the tree, presents, ornaments and star. The tree is stamped in Mossy Meadow, and the presents in Golden Glow.

  • The Wombat is coloured in Crumb Cake with touches of Natural 600 and Light Pecan Pie.

  • The Kookaburra is coloured with Azure Afternoon, Dark Smoky Slate and a little Light Pecan Pie, with the beak and feet in Crisp Cantaloupe.

  • The lights the Wombat is holding are coloured in Real Red and Mossy Meadow, finished with Wink of Stella for sparkle.

The card base, envelope, bling and trees are all from this month’s Paper Pumpkin. I highly recommend these kits — I’ve used the cards and pieces for other projects, and they work beautifully even when creating with only what’s inside the box.

✂️ Measurements

  • Card base: 140mm x 210mm, scored at 105mm

  • Images: stamped on scraps of Basic White

  • Golden Glow: scrap piece for accents

  • DSP under sentiment: 90mm x 20mm, from A Little Christmas DSP

Calypso Coral week 14

A group of the Art With Heart Team is hopping through the Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order, and week 14 is all about Calypso Coral 🌺✨

Here is my project: my weekly journal, created as a little Folding Album. I made two cards, scored them in half, and glued them together — giving me four sweet little pages to decorate. Each page has its own personality, inspired by the gorgeous scenes in the Waterside Retreat DSP πŸ’™

The oars, life jackets, and the bicycle on the front are all fussy cut from the DSP. For the bike, I penciled in the spokes using a tracing‑paper technique — such a fun detail! I also added a sheet from Bloom Boutique on one of the pages for a different look and texture.

Colours I used:

Calypso Coral (the base + some die‑cuts), Old Olive, Very Vanilla, and Crisp Cantaloupe. The backs of each Waterside Retreat picture are layered with Perennial Postage, and the sentiments + die cuts are from Relaxing Waterside, stamped in Calypso Coral ink.

My inspiration came from our recent trip to Noosa — watching the boats head out. While making this last night, I honestly felt like I was still there… coastal magic at its best πŸŒŠπŸ’•

The journaling pages are tucked behind each picture — ready for memories, thoughts, and little stories.

I hope this inspires you.
