Heart of Christmas Blog Hop | Shallow Box Card ๐
Welcome to Week 9 of our annual Heart of Christmas Blog Hop!
A group of creative friends from the Art With Heart team are back sharing Christmas inspiration every Monday night through until the end of November. We hope you'll enjoy following along and finding plenty of festive inspiration for your Christmas crafting.
This week I'm sharing another Shallow Box Card, created using the Holly Jolly Branches Bundle. I wasn't quite sure how this design would come together when I started, but I'm really pleased with the finished result.
In fact, I was up quite late last night assembling all three versions after cutting out trees in different colours and wanting to use every single one of them! Once I started experimenting with combinations, I couldn't stop. I felt like a kid in a candy store.
The trees in the background have been softened with a layer of Very Vanilla, creating a lovely sense of depth. For the feature Christmas trees, topped with stars cut from Golden Glow Pearlized Specialty Paper, I stamped one tree at full strength and stamped off the other two before adding the decorative details. This simple technique creates beautiful variation and dimension within the scene.
The gorgeous, patterned paper is from the Neutral Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper, which complements the design perfectly.
I've become quite obsessed with making Shallow Box Cards lately. I love the incredible depth they create while still folding flat for posting. This week alone I've made three, bringing my total for Christmas to 23 completed cards, with another 27 still to go. I'm definitely on a roll! ๐
For this batch I created:
• Very Vanilla cardstock with Flirty Flamingo and Granny Apple Green ink
• Very Vanilla cardstock with Poppy Parade and Granny Apple Green ink
• Cherry Cobbler cardstock with Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green ink
I'd love to know which colour combination is your favourite!
The square window was created using the Tile Garden Dies. I used the largest square die for the front opening and the next size down for the middle panel. To ensure an even border all the way around, I positioned the middle panel behind the front piece before die-cutting. The side panels were scored and folded into an accordion shape, creating the depth and dimension of the finished box card.
